How RFID receiving, counting, and picking work

    Readers and tags

    Fixed readers and handheld scanners read tags. Tags are assigned to SKUs and assets, and item records can be units, lots, or serials. Readers are mapped to doors, aisles, and cages.

    Receiving

    Receiving verification matches an inbound shipment to the expected record. Directed putaway then routes the items to bins and zones.

    Count

    Automated cycle counts scan racks without line of sight. Reader events can create recount and inspection tasks when a count does not match.

    Picking and packing

    Pick validation confirms the item before it leaves the pick zone. Pack verification confirms carton contents before the shipment is sealed.
